New Stride Physical Therapy is committed to the clinical education of PT, PTA, and undergraduate students. New Stride serves as a clinical education site for the Del Mar PTA program and an internship site for Texas A&M University Kinesiology and Health Science Programs. New Stride also accepts college students interested in obtaining observation hours required for PT/PTA programs.
PT and PTA students will have the opportunity to gain experience in the following clinical areas:
- Orthopedics including treatment of the spine and joints
- Balance and vertigo
- Pilates (Island and Alameda)
All students must wear closed toe shoes with a collared polo shirt and dockers. Dress professionally during all onsite visits. Park on the street at the Island location and in the back parking lot at the Alameda location.

Alameda Clinic hours of operation are Monday – Thursday from 8am to 6pm
14302 Nemo Court (Padre Island)

Island Clinic hours of operation are Monday – Thursday from 8am to 6pm and Friday 8am to 12pm.
INTERSHIPS AND CLINIC ROTATION STUDENTS
Prior to starting clinical rotation, PTA, PT, Kinesiology and Athletic Training students are required to submit the following:
- Current contract with your university
- Current TB test taken within the calendar year
- Current CPR certification
- Completed Confidentiality/HIPPA paperwork (Student Info Sheet)
- Tell me which location you want to do your rotation; give me days/hours you will be in the clinic
Please email all required documentation to tmccloskey@newstridept.com. Once all required documentation is received, your request will be considered.
You are not allowed to start your internship without email confirmation from Dr. McCloskey.
OBSERVATION AND VOLUNTEER STUDENTS
Prior to starting observation or volunteer hours, students are required to submit the following:
- Current TB test taken with the calendar year
- Completed Confidentiality/HIPPA paperwork (Student Info Sheet)
- Tell me which location you want to complete your observation hours; give me dates and hours.
Please email all required documentation to tmccloskey@newstridept.com. Once all of the required documentation is received, your request will be considered.
You are not allowed to start your observation/volunteer hours without email confirmation from Dr. McCloskey.
